As we reported last year, there was spare parts left over from the construction of the LOFAR LBA (Low-Band Array) field. This was because we have opted to build a second LBA site, rather than a split field system as was originally envisaged. As a result we need to move the remaining LBA grids from the KAIRA site and back to the institute at Sodankyla.
As the grids are wider than conventionally permitted on Finnish roads, they were packed into timber frames for vertical transport. Today's photographs show the packing arrangement that we used.
