LofarZone

The LofarZone is a people's-project, instigated by a group of enthusiastic Dutch citizens who live near the core of the LOFAR radio telescope network. Their vision is to ensure that the LOFAR project is not only for scientists, but also for local residents, school students and tourists.

LOFAR is already used for astronomy, atmospheric physics, agriculture and geophysics. What LofarZone is trying to do is develop non-scientific ideas that are closer to people with different interests, like art, health, landscape, architecture and tourism.

Additionally, they promote and educate the public about all of LOFAR, thus integrating and involving the project in the wider community.
